Know the business well to be in the business

Many years ago, when talking about choosing what to do when growing up, my father said to me “Find something you like to do, be good at it and figure out a way to make some money out of it.” With that advice I chosen software development as my career path and went with it for decades.

Come to think about it one needs to know the business (well) to be in the business. It is true to an architect, it  is true to a programmer. It is also true to a project manager. extend it to a larger Scale, it is also true to a company.
